The Great Ocean Road and the Otway Ranges are two iconic experiences in our corner of the world. 

This coastal drive is so spectacular that it is driven not for any destination but for the journey itself.  In recent years more and more outstanding experiences have emerged on this journey and we have handpicked the best and created the opportunity to take a indulgent road trip like no other.

The Great Escape Trail spans three days to ensure we can visit a range of craft breweries, vineyards and restaurants celebrating local produce. Andy’s Trails wants to make sure you don’t just visit our region – we have designed an adventure to ensure you truly experience the Great Ocean Road, whether it be exploring the 12 apostles from high above, cruising across the river at dusk, or sitting by a roaring fire with a local pinot. Day one is a journey through some of the Great Ocean Roads premium food and beverage destinations where we visit a chocolate factory, vineyard and craft brewery all whilst taking in the Great Ocean Road, finishing in style with dinner at the famous Beacon Point Restaurant  

Day two you can settle back as we drive through the Otway Ranges to the shipwreck coast where you will experience a once in a lifetime chance to see the Great Ocean Road from the sky in the ’12 Apostles’ Helicopter. Back on the road we travel deep in the Otway Ranges to Forrest for a dusk canoe tour in search of the elusive Platypus followed by a locally produced meal and ale at the local craft brewery

Day three is a late start and a relaxed drive through the magical Otway Ranges. On the way we stop for berries and gin tastings, vineyard samplings and the best coffee on the great ocean road. The Great Ocean Road Chocolate Factory Be amazed by 20 varieties of ice cream, decadent desserts, 7000 different truffles, 250 delectable chocolate varieties using seasonal ingredients all handmade on site by the Oompa Loompas…. or chocolatiers! Settle down in the café for a hot chocolate like no other, or escape outside into tranquil landscaped coastal garden- look out for the ice cream kangaroos!  Included on our tour: A Great Chocolaterie Ice Cream (or Coffee) to start the Tour in the right way! 

Airey’s Pub When a brewery names one of their beers “Cranky Mrs” you know you’re going to have a good time. Having wrestled the pub away from developers and mainstream beers this pub embodies the local surfing spirit. With the help of a tasting paddle and a wide range of craft beers you’ll find something for every palate. Included on our tour: A Tasting paddle of 7 different ales with one of the Great Ocean Roads best pub lunches. 

Overlooking Bass Strait, set high in the Otways above the Great Ocean Road, Chris's Beacon Point Restaurant and Villas has become a Mecca for gourmet travelers. Great Ocean Road Brewhouse Situated on the Great Ocean Road in Apollo Bay where the hills meet the ocean. Experience beer and wine tastings, along with a fantastic selection of local produce. Enjoy a paddle of 5 local Prickly Moses handcrafted beers or a tasting of 4 wines from the region. You’ll find locally made cheese, premium meat products, herbs and spices, delicious chocolates, a range of jams, chutneys and oils, locally produced honey, and lots of other tasty treats as well as handcrafted gifts and souvenirs.

The Great Ocean Road The world-famous Great Ocean Road touring route is must-do. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Shipwreck Coast and the spectacular 12 Apostles - the massive limestone structures that tower 45 metres above the tempestuous Southern Ocean, leave its visitors awe-struck in wonder at their size and beauty.  Included on our tour: Stops along the shipwreck coast - 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and the London Bridge

12 Apostles - London Bridge Scenic Flight. Experience a breathtaking flight with this  unique opportunity to see the 12 Apostles, Shipwreck Coast and Port Campbell National Park from the air. Enjoy an informative commentary on the unique rock formations and history of the Shipwreck Coast by an experienced pilots. Included on our tour: A once in a lifetime helicopter trip over the Great Ocean Road

Paddle with the Platypus A dusk canoe experience like no other. Lake Elizabeth, near Forrest in Victoria, is home to platypus and one of the few places you can view them in the wild. Paddle with the Platypus, a rare opportunity for you to see and learn about platypus in the wild.  Included on our tour: a guided canoe tour 

Forrest Brewing Company promotes itself as equal parts microbrewery, eating place and mountain bike hangout. Located in the renovated general store in the country town of Forrest it neighbours the Otway Ranges rainforest and is famous for mountain biking. Enjoy local seasonal produce for dinner whilst pairing with Forrest’s very own brewing company beers. You can even peek through the window to see the brewing process happening. Nothing quite tastes like a craft beer coming straight from the tank to the tap. Enjoy local seasonal produce for our lunch whilst pairing with Forrest’s very own brewing company beers.  Included on our tour: A seasonally produced dinner matched with a beer tasting paddle of Forrest Brewing ales. 

Forrest Guesthouse is the perfect balance of relaxation & wholesome goodness.

Forrest Guesthouse. In the heart of the Otway Ranges, Forrest Guesthouse accommodation is the perfect getaway to stop, relax and soak up the fresh country air. A traditional Guesthouse with long verandahs, rambling gardens and boutique décor, Forrest Guesthouse is all about getting away to the country Included on our tour: Overnight accommodation, Dinner at the Local Craft Brewery, Beers matched to dinner and Breakfast. 

Gosling Creek Winery is a delightful winery located on the northern slopes of the Murroon vineyard in farming country on the way to the Otway Ranges National Park, making it ideal for cooler climate grapes. Sample their delicious wines in a relaxed atmosphere at their cellar door overlooking the rolling hills and true country atmosphere. Included on our tour: A wine tasting session 

Pennyroyal Raspberry Farm is the oldest working berry farm in the South West of Victoria. During the peak berry season they have ‘pick your own’ raspberries, blackberries and many more! They’ve gone one step further with their berries and infused them with gin to produce their very special berry gins- Raspberry Gin, Brambleberry Gin, Boysenberry Gin, Marionberry Gin and Jostaberry Gin to name a few! In addition to this they also produce their own home grown crucible cider!  Included on our tour: A private gin tasting experience
