Discover the diversity of the Geelong wine region on our Geelong Wine Tour. A powerhouse of pinot noir, Geelong is also known for exceptionally elegant chardonnay and subtly spicy, medium-bodied shiraz. For intrepid wine lovers, the wealth of varieties and their various interpretations throughout this sprawling region provide plenty of interest.
Just south of Melbourne and a straight run down the Westgate Highway, in spite of Geelong’s convenient location it often gets overlooked. Stretching from Werribee, halfway to Ballarat and right down Australia’s iconic Great Ocean Road. This is region for wine enthusiasts in the know, the refined, complex and character-filled pinot noir, chardonnay and shiraz of Geelong have received plenty of praise from James Halliday. In addition to its top-notch drops, this is a destination with inviting cellar doors that serve up sumptuous meals to match, and plenty of great places to take in the horizon across the slopes of the vineyards and curves of the bays.

Established in 1997 in the rich limestone soil of Waurn Ponds Nicol’s Paddock is a perfect afternoons escape, only moments from Geelong. Nicol’s Paddock is family owned and operated with boutique, low intervention winery. On site too, is a wonderful little restaurant which overlooks the vineyard. Their focus is on a shared style of dining using wonderfully sourced, seasonal & local produce.

Following in the footsteps of the original Swiss vignerons of Geelong by re-establishing in the Barrabool Hills after an absence of over 100 years. Planted in 1999, they have approximately 4 hectares under vine and 100% of their wines are estate grown. As well as the original planting of Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Marsanne, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon they are currently developing small plantings of Rousanne and Pinot Meunier.
